I have spent my professional career in the fields of criminal justice, police, forensics and formal education (university, subject areas of criminal justice, law, forensics, criminology, forensic psychology and sociology).
I have developed expertise (and have been qualified through the courts) in numerous criminal justice, police & forensic areas, as well as having twenty five years of experience in the following assignments; death penalty cases, homicide, crimes against persons & properties, vice crimes, special response team, crime scene investigation & reconstruction, traffic collision reconstruction to name a few.
In addition to having a criminal justice/police background, I also possess experience and training in advanced security (i.e. diplomatic, dignitaries) measures & protocols.
From a pedagogic standpoint, I have been a part-time university professor since 2005. In 2009 was awarded the outstanding professor of the year award. Have taught at three universities and lectured at various, including internationally (University of Coimbra in Europe), and have run two forensic laboratories as a faculty member and acting lab director. In addition to teaching law, criminal justice/police courses, I've presided as a moot court judge. Lastly, I also taught general education courses.
Have held command positions, throughout career at times leading individual investigative divisions and or social services teams, supervising in excess of 25+ staff members (comprising of investigators, investigative assistants, support staff, social workers nurses, clerks and secretarial staff), whilst managing departmental budgets (in excess of $100k, not including staff salaries).
Lastly, I have liaison-ed with external agencies and the private sector throughout my career to ensure mutual cooperation and having mission statements (as well as departmental operations were met). As a manager in social services I wrote numerous grant applications for my respective agencies securing sums in excess of $50k or higher from state and federal sources.
Dr. Jay Sung

Dr. Sung spent his early childhood growing up in Ashland, Ohio until his family moved back to South Korea where he spent most of his school years. After winning an honorable award in the national physics contest in high school, Dr. Sung was offered a scholarship to be accepted in college for physics major.
However, his three years of military service changed his life forever. While working as an engineer affiliated with the military, Dr. Sung frequently volunteered at a catholic medical facility located in a remote rural area of Korea, and realized that his true passion lied in treating people and serving the need of the community.
Dr. Sung completed his dental degree from Seoul National University where he received numerous scholarships from the school, the alumni and a dental material company. Through an outstanding performance in the National Board Dental Examinations administered by the American Dental Association, Dr. Sung was then accepted to the UCLA Orthodontic program, where he earned a master's degree in Oral biology from UCLA. He participated in research studies related to orthodontic diagnosis, while teaching the future dentists and orthodontists in classes. After his busy life in Southern California, Dr. Sung and his family finally decided to move to this beautiful state of Washington, where he met some of the nicest people in the world.
Everyday is a joy for Dr. Sung, meeting new people and making their life brighter and healthier with a beautiful smile. Being an author of a case study in one of the most respected journals in Orthodontics, Dr.Sung is proud to be one of the doctors leading the newest technology. His exemplary treatment of a case was also published and shared with other specialists in the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. As an active member of the professional society, he has presented numerous cases that he treated.
